Size of Center
Group Size is the maximum value allowed within a classroom. If a classroom houses a maximum number less than the max group size, you can adjust for this by utilizing fractions in the Number of Classrooms values.
Ratios and Group Size
Licensed Family Home
- Six or fewer children, if more than two are under two, must have two educators at all times.
- Large home: 7-12 with two educators when there are more than six children present or more than 2 under two years.
- FOCUS Star-5 = meeting National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) accreditation standards for ratios and group size.
- Difference – NAFCC no more than 2 children under 2 when 6 or less and no more than 4 under 2 when 7 or more.
School Age Child Care Only
- Director onsite 50 percentt of program operation
- Minimum of two staff at all times, one must be an educator.

Group Size
APPLICABILITY: A private dwelling required to be licensed under regulations in 8.9.4.31 NMAC.

Family child care home
In general, a Family Child Care Home (FCC) is any residence that services no more than 6 children.

In general, a Group Child Care Home (Group Home) is any residence that services 7-12 children. A group size cannot exceed 12.
